This « Extraordinary Garden », situated right in the heart of the city, opposite the station, presents the fauna and flora of Burgundy in an amusing and inter-active manner but also allows the discovery of a number of different species living on the five continents as well as the natural surrounds in which they evolve.
The importance of science in the world in which we live is a secret for no-one and is the « business » of all. It is therefore only natural that the Muséum-Jardin des Sciences of Dijon should dedicate itself to this mission so as to help the young and not so young to understand and respect the environment in which they live.
To cultivate one’s mind while enjoying oneself could be the motto for this knowledgeable institution. It is a unique complex, dedicated to the whole diversity of scientific culture. It offers visitors the opportunity of learning all about nature and science in an amusing way.
Player in scientific culture, witness of museographic innovations thanks to modern techniques, the Muséum - Jardin des Sciences de l’Arquebuse aims to be appealing, witness of the past but also resolutely turned towards the future.
It was with the aim of continuing the development of the Jardin des sciences that the Town council decided to build a planetarium by extending the Pavillon du Raines. All these entities now constitute a unique scientific pole forming an exceptional site where all the sciences of the nature, the earth and now the … Universe are grouped.
The Hubert Curien Planetarium thus takes its place in the heart of the Parc de l’Arquebuse beside the Natural History Museum and the Botanical Gardens of Dijon. With its sloped floor, covered with a dome 10 metres in diameter, the Hubert Curien, Planetarium, perfectly adapted to the size of the urban area of Dijon, can accommodate up to 60 people per session. It offers equipment of the most recent technology and visitors are immersed in images.
